Halil Kut's Message for the Victory of Kut'ül Amare

Iraqi Army Commander Halil Pasha said in his message to the 6th Army after the victory of Kut'ül Amare:

"Lions! honour and glory to all the Turks and the souls of our martyrs flying in the sunny sky of this angry land that was a challenge to the British, and I congratulate all of you by kissing your pure foreheads. My army lost 350 officers and 10,000 soldiers against Kut and the armies that came to save Kut. But on the other hand, today I am receiving 13 generals, 481 officers and 13,300 soldiers in Kut. British forces, who came to rescue this army that we took over, returned with 30,000 casualties. When these two differences are taken into consideration, a big difference is seen that will astonish the world. History will have a hard time finding words to write this event. Here we see the first victory in Çanakkale, where Turkish persistence broke British stubbornness and the second victory here. "

    Kut'ül Amare Victory

On December 27, 1915, the Ottoman army, which forced the British, who besieged the town of Kut, to surrender with hunger, took 13 generals, 481 officers and 13,300 soldiers. This battle, which goes down in history as the Kutul Amare Victory, begins with the British attempt to capture the city of Amare in Baghdad and the Kut castle peninsula. Although the exact meaning of Kut'ul Amare is not known, the city of Amare is located between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers.
